MH Percussion, Our Story, Our History 

 

 

MH Percussion Ltd was established in 2012 by Mark Hosten, a respected steelpan educator, arranger, and craftsman based in Arouca, Trinidad and Tobago. Born from a passion for preserving and promoting the steelpan—Trinidad and Tobago’s national instrument—the company began with a simple mission: to provide high-quality steelpans built with precision, integrity, and cultural pride.

 

Over the past decade, MH Percussion has evolved into a multidimensional steelpan enterprise, playing a vital role in both local and international steelpan development. 

 

Our Four Operational Branches

 

1. MH Percussion Manufacturing

 

This is the foundation of our work—producing handcrafted steelpans and steel drums to the highest performance standards. We serve musicians, schools, and music stores around the world. Each instrument is carefully tuned and tested for clarity, resonance, and durability. 

 

2. MH Percussion Publishing

 

This branch publishes original steelpan sheet music, ensemble scores, and instructional materials. These are used in schools, steel orchestras, and solo performances to promote reading, arranging, and theory within the steelpan discipline. 

 

3. MH Percussion Training & Consultancy 

 

Our training division offers workshops and programs in steelpan construction, tuning, arranging, and pedagogy. We also consult for government agencies, educational institutions, and cultural organizations across the Caribbean.

 

4. Perfect Cadence Steel Orchestra

 

Our performing arm, Perfect Cadence, is an energetic steel orchestra that showcases the expressive power of the pan. We’ve performed at national events, school tours, festivals, and community concerts—representing the soul of MH Percussion on every stage.
